Pinoy PLU Signal: Single Gym-goer

Single Gym-goer

A friend once told me that he confirmed that I was PLU when he saw that I was enrolled in a gym. I was utterly bewildered by this, but on hindsight, I realized that he may be on to something.

I now think that if you see a man who is single and works out in the gym, then the chances are good that he is gay. I believe this idea works because gay guys are still men after all. Men are more into looks than women. (I know this for a fact since I’ve seen too many nice and pretty ladies with boyfriends that I wouldn’t give a second look.) Gay guys know how other guys think and thus, to have a good shot at nabbing that hunk, one has to be well-built himself. Therefore we have such stereotypes like the gym bunny and the reason why gym is the gay church.

Of course, this should not be generalized to every single gym-goer or to the preferences of every gay guy. But, don’t you think that there is some truth to this? :-)

if the gym has a sauna... no question about it... single guy = PLU

personal experience, the odds are more like 60/40. Weighing more on him being gay of course. :P

That increases to 80% if he (1) joins group exercise classes (alone) and a 98% if he goes into the steam room/ sauna alone (even if he wears shorts). :P

tony, expert ah! kung ang gym instructor ba ay single, gay din ba? hehehe...

a filipino gym instructor of our hotel here in dubai is one of my crushes. he had been a member of philippine rowing team and no single bone in the body, hahaha! (parang si kiko!). but he has no gf for almost 2 years now nor wife in the philippines. and, he's the only filipino man i saw wearing trench coat last winter season...

bakla din ba sya?

nagtatanong from dubai...

definitely has truth to it. just started going to the gym -- i'm 19. and 2 days into it, i've pretty much confirmed for myself what you say about the gym being the gay church. i've had quite a few exchanges of "the look" with guys from the gym -- in the gym, in the locker room, and even outside the gym (one i passed by in the mall). and i agree with tony, 98% if he goes to the steam room (much like i did on my 2nd day). ...btw, is it wrong to wear shorts in the sauna?

OMG! does that mean i'm PLU?! hahaha. but then agin, don't generalize. better be safe than sorry. do not assume that this is true to all.

@anonymous from dubai: A trainer or a an instructor. There is a very big difference. Group exercise intructors have a very high chance of being gay (over generalization I know) while personal trainers are the opposite.

I was actually a part-time personal trainer a long time ago... but I think I was the exception to the rule rather than the norm.

Typically? Personal trainers would not be gay, but that doesn't mean that they are not game. *wink*

Rygel, you got a point there! :-)

Tony, I agree. Hehe. So, ever gotten some indecent proposals during your trainer stint?

Dubai reader, Tony is kinda correct. I think group exercise trainers would tend to be gay while personal trainers are unlikely to be.

J, katuwa ano? Sarap i-exercise ang gaydar sa gym, 'di ba?

TerRENCE, but if you're good, then the assumption would be correct. :-)
