Enjoy Puerto Galera, guys!

So Holy Week is upon us and that means one thing: it’s the annual gay pilgrimage to Puerto Gaylera once again! And just like last year, the date of Araw ng Kagitingan (April 9) makes it so that we have two back-to-back long weekends. In 2009, the extra long weekend was the Palm Sunday weekend. This year, it will be the weekend after Easter Sunday.

Well, just like last year, I would guess that the better long weekend to go to Galera would be the non-Good Friday weekend. The reason is because I think that the other long weekend would be not as crowded but still be gay enough that you will still have plenty of cruising opportunities if that’s your thing. Hehe.

You should check out my Puerto Galera gay guide if you haven’t yet and you’re trooping to this tropical party destination. Warning: it’s been years since I’ve been to Galera so this guide might be outdated. I would certainly appreciate very much any tips and info so I can update the guide. :-)

i will be there on the 9th. after so many years, it's good to be back at gale. i have had some experiences there (including a 'gang-rape')but i guess the best thing about galera is the bohemian atmosphere. people don't really care who's there and who's not. you just go there to enjoy not really to proejct and be seen.

as always, i have been a frequent holy week puerto galera goer since summer 2000, a lot of things has changed since then.
so just to update fellow beachcombers

1. there is a terminal fee P30 at the pier and an environmental fee P50 to be paid, the bangkas have varied rates, and then another terminal fee P30 when you leave white beach.

2. the bangka rates varies - MV Brian is P450 round trip

3. there are brgy community policemen are standing guard and roaming in the areas of jurassic, kueva and batuhan in other words "bawal na po" so take alternative ways to cruise,

4. only mikkos and hiyas bars are the perfect places to chill, to mingle, to share drinks with perspective gentlemen ehem ehem... just be creative and innovative in bonding with desirable men.

5. room rates will go lower, unexpectively this holy week 2010, there were not much people around, surprisingly the holy wed 2010 my friends and i were able to have the beach all by ourselves - holy thurs 2010, my friend and i were drinking at mikkos from 1PM to 6PM there were not much people around, so different from the number of people last 2009, maybe its the april 9 holiday? by next weekend? do bargain with the landlords nicely

my attitude...well just enjoy my vacation my beach my mumoomba drinks my sarongs my friends

until next year...puerto galera pa rin ako

@Tristan tara! :-)

@tonichi, that's a nice characterization of galera. :-)

@taurus top, thanks very much for the update! I guess the roving barangay tanods were inevitable.
