Pope Benedict’s Commandments

1) YOUR sex life is my business. 2) OUR sex life is none of your business.

The editorial cartoon above from The Courier-Journal has got to be the best illustration of the juxtaposition of the Catholic Church’s stance on sexuality (like the CBCP’s opposition to Ang Ladlad) and the worldwide sex abuses scandal gripping the Vatican.

Vote Ang Ladlad for Party List!

uhm...sorry to burst your bubble but its not like the pope ordered ALL priests to start molesting their parishioners. these are the actions of individual priests.

so i think its unfair that you would post something like this without checking the FACTS...not what the secular media would want us to believe.

@Teban, :-)

@Gay Catholic, you're being too defensive. My text and the cartoon never said that the pope encouraged the priests to commit sexual abuse. What I disapprove of is how the Vatican is being indecisive and slow in disciplining their wayward priests. Sometimes the bishops just reshuffle their priests which does not really solve the problem. And in some cases, the Vatican sits on these cases for months because of the hesitation of defrocking priests without realizing that their continuing service damages the community. Essentially, the cartoon says that priests having sex scandals is not just the problem of the Vatican but the whole Catholic community so it's everyone's business, and not just the bishops' and Vatican's problem.

So, no, I have read enough about the issues and I wasn't being unfair at all.

I'm keen on re-posting an entry about my close encounter with a "man in white robes."

That's when I learned religion can never be trusted.

@Vince

I agree 100%. They sweep this issue under the rug AND they don't seem to have measures in place to rectify the situation.

And you're right, they'll just re-assign the priest where they can continue fathering children or worse sexually abuse them.

@Galen, I wouldn't say that religion in itself is bad, but some people who practice it makes it look bad.

@Nathanology, yup, they really need a crash course on how to handle scandal.

@Dhon, I'm glad you do. :-)
