Is it just me or are gay men more likely than straight guys to post shirtless profile photos on Facebook and other social networking sites? And these photos are those that aim to show a nice body (like in the gym) and are not just basic beach shots.
I have no data to back this up, but I think that 90% of guys that do this are either gay or are models. The rest are just vain straight men. Hehe. I can actually think of several gay friends on FB who have such photos. But off the top of my head, I cannot think of a straight guy friend who has such topless pictures on Facebook.
One reason I can think why this is so is simply because men, gay or not, are more into looks than women. So for straight men, there is less incentive to show off to the women. Whereas gays, for better or for worse, tend to flaunt their body, especially if they worked hard for it, in order to attract more attractive men.
What do you think? Do you think my assessment is spot on?

so i guess you will get a spot on assessment on this during the rainy season where a lot of guys usually put their clothes on. that is where you will eliminate the straight and find out who is gay or not.

i have "so called" friends who does it all the time but what can i do, its their personal FB account except if they tag me (without permission) on certain nude pictures of themselves or some men therefore i would hide their profile or better yet if they arent my real friends, delete them

its ok to show off a little skin (dahil one worked hard to have a hard and lean body) but to parade everything making the FB as a soft porn site, thats going to far...
one has to remind them its ok to be gay and out but lets have decency and considerate to others, a little respect isnt hard, right?

This is absolutely true.
My friends from HS are mostly straight and only one or two have shirtless pics (these are the vain tools). The outstanding majority of shirtless pics are of PLUs, and that's a very good thing thank you very much. :)

This is totally true, I've made this assessment myself. Any guy who has a shirtless Facebook pic is auto-tagged as gay in my book.
They do it not really because men generally are more focused on looks, but rather to advertise themselves for bookings with other gay people. Gay culture is very sex-driven and it's very common for gay people to have bookings with people they've never met. FB makes it so easy for them, but they need to advertise via the shirtless FB pic.
