Queeriosity Palace’s last week

Yes the news is true. After more than four years of operation, Queeriosity Palace will be closing its doors on July 1. But just like Epitome they will be having a blast doing so.

For this final week, you can visit the bathhouse without being a member. Just pay the usual entrance fee. Today, Monday, the entrance will be 150 pesos all night. On Wednesday they will have one of their private shows.

And on Saturday, to celebrate the Pride month of June, they will be having their very own White Party. Since they will be open starting at 6pm, you can start your White Party at Q and then head on after midnight to Malate’s own White Party, if you prefer that. Anyway, if you’re wearing white underwear, you can get in for only 180 pesos all night. The party at Q will also guest DJ Stone of O-Bar Malate.

I find it sad whenever establishments that cater to the PLU community close for good. But hey, the economy is not as good and people are tightening their belts. Hopefully in the future, when times are better and people are more accepting of the LGBT sector, then we can all have lots of good times. For now, let’s all support one another.

With Grindr and PR, I personally think Bathouses are becoming obsolete. Dagdagan mo pa ng police raids and STD and soon, they will all die out.

Now, now, Mugen.

It's not like you can't get STDs from Grindr and PR hookups.

It ain't the venue, it's the behavior that puts us at risk. Although I'll concede the police raid thing; that is a risk that goes hand-in-hand with most of the venues, even though John Gaddi and others have made the point that there is nothing illegal in the activities between consenting adults in a private place such as a bath house.

Maybe bath houses deserve a good portion of the blame for the reported rise in STD rates, and at one point I did imagine that the DOH might order their forcible closure in the name of public health, just like they did in San Francisco when the AIDS epidemic became real.

But for some people, bath houses aren't just places to have random sexual encounters. They are like social clubs where genuine friendships can and have been formed, where one can just go and hang out - with, of course, the bonus of a sexual encounter just around the corner.

Anyway…diff'rent strokes, folks.

It was recently raided by cops and swat team. According to my brother when he we went there on the 3rd week of june before he went back abroad. they were asked for 500 hundred pesos in a camp like area in QC where they were brought by tons of jeeps carrying 100 plus of attendees. they had stay until 6am. Scary.. coz i had been curious how it looks and feels there.. good thing i didnt come with him. lol

Please support LADLAD, our party list in the next year 2013 midterm elections. If we don't have a voice in congress, expect that these scumbags will continue to extort money from people like us through raids and other illegal acts. It is time to fight for our rights. We need a representation. Let's make a difference this time.
