Getting someone’s number via hand signals?

The most straightforward way to get a guy’s number is to ask for it directly. But in places where you need to be discreet, other ways are needed, like the time I got this dude’s mobile number when he left his business card in my view for me to pick up a short time later.

For me, the weirdest way I got another person’s digits was when he gave it to me by doing hand signals.

I was in this karaoke bar in Malate with a friend a few years ago. Among the other patrons in the place that night, I noticed this big muscular man who looked like a bouncer. Fortunately, he noticed me as well and we exchanged long looks at each other. After a while, he then lowered his hands and began making hand signals. At first, I didn’t understand what he was doing until I realized that he was giving me his number. It was a bit funny because he had to repeat his signals several times before I locked his number down. I miscalled the number and was relieved to see his phone light up. Thus began our exchange of text messages.

(Nothing happened between us after that. I was disappointed to learn that he apparently wanted someone to service him sexually and that he wasn’t willing to reciprocate.)

Looking back at the whole thing, I wonder why we didn’t just follow each other to the restroom and exchanged numbers directly. :-P

happened to me too. i was one flight up, other guy was across the street below. we couldn't hear each other so he hand-signaled his number.

I was at the cinema when a guy in a row in front of me (he was with other guys and girls) started typing numbers on the screen of his phone. Kindly annoyed at first because the screen was so bright. I realized he was giving me his number. I texted him and he replied saying to wait for me after the movie once he separated himself from his officemates. Steamy night. :)

What happened to me was different. We were in an FX when I saw this cute semikalbo guy also riding with me. I sat next to him. During the ride, I felt he was rubbing his legs and arms to mine and since I find him also cute, I put up my phone and typed my number. Luckily, he was smart enough to know that I was typing my number on the screen. :-)

if I have a business card, I do it openly, as if engaging professionally, complete with following business card etiquette. LOLS

buti na lang smart ang mga bakla... because really, Isn't that a bit of an odd expectation? That the guy you are interested in understands hand signals? Maybe its his way of weeding out people. "You can't understand hand signals? Not good enough for me." ROFL

@dalumat, so what happened after? :D

@the blind bandit, you must be cute because he saw and liked you in the dark cinema. hehehe.

@Anon 1, and what happened?

@down dog, however, it would look weird in some places. :)

@Tony, hindi ako smart kasi it took me a while to understand. LOL

@Ming Meows, truly.

@Anon 2, it was years ago. I doubt that he's still using that same number. :p

I really regretted one time when this chinito guy is staring at me at the end of the pool. I went to the shower area after then while I'm finishing up, he went pass by me and making some weird hand signs (later, I realized he was actually telling me to wait for him to finish up). Didn't get his number or even his name. Never saw him again since we're both just staying in a hotel. Arg!!!

I was on break (lunch time), then I decided to grab some cookies in a nearby 711 then a Black CRV stop in front of me and the guy open his window and smile. Hindi ko alam bakit ngumiti din ako (one of my stupid traits yung ngumiti pagnginitian ako kahit hindi ko kilala).I just thought na another scenario ng mistaken identity so I continue walking and I just notice na hindi gumagalaw ang sasakyan niya. I look back and ayun his waving his phone and trying to spell out yung phone number niya.(its around 2 am noon and i'm the only one walking along paseo de roxas) Sana kung meron lang akong guts noon sumakay na ako, kaso baka malate ako sa lunch ko. O.o
